BEAUTY IN RAIN
A Poem by Kayla Farner
Life unanticipated,
light from the dark,
a pregnant expectancy,
filling the womb of a charcoal cloud
when the seam tears
refreshment falls in a deluge
as though the heavens above
pop infinite bottles of the sweetest champagne,
the spray raining on eager taste buds below
arid grounds transform to verdant blooms,
the delighted squeal of a twirling child
floats among the unceasing droplets,
romance encircles the couple entranced,
their lips as puzzle pieces crafted to mold to one another,
a flashing bolt illuminates the backdrop
capturing silhouettes for one frozen moment
followed by a resounding clap of applause
that reverberates into the bones
and the repetitive
Drip
Drop
Drip
Drop
echoes the truth of life, joy, hope birthed by storm.
