Checkpoints of Wonder

A Poem by Alexis Ragan

“You should make time for checkpoints of wonder.”

Making time for these seem

vital on the highway to heaven.

Except traffic will tell you,

like “jazz is dead,” that

so are these little glimpse of moments too.

Take hold of it for what it is —

carefully designed droplets of joy,

dripping in evidence of creation.

I’ll capture those checkpoints of wonder.

Then, I’ll float home stunned and certain

that all awe combined on this side of eternity

is only a glimpse of what is yet to show.
