THE CREATOR’S COLOR WHEEL

A Poem by Clio Florenca DeVitis
So much of the world is fashioned
to be either black or white,
though many of us sit in gray uncertainty.
But with Jesus,
life bursts forth in color:
Wild azure waves become
blue stallions racing to the shore,
a force of life that knows there is more;
A splash of late sun becomes
a painter’s canvas, where streaks of rich
oil paint in gold and opal hues set the sky.
A lively lighthouse becomes a North Star
guiding sailors back to where they belong,
to animated homes and families,
to a joy that bubbles over,
to a burst of life found in Christ.
Clio Florenca DeVitis is a 24-year-old poet, English Language Arts teacher, and Jesus lover. She was born and raised in Ventura County, California to a lovely Portuguese-South African family before going to Azusa Pacific University. Besides her two degrees and “for life” friends, the best thing to come from college was her husband, Gabe, who she now lives with in the Bay Area. To Be Human is her debut novel.
