Intimate Hope

A Poem by Amber North

Before it was finished,
the Word inhaled stained air;
a gift His mother cherished

with utmost tender care.

On the night of His first cry,
some shepherds lit a fire.
They tended to their flock
when greeted by a heavenly choir,

were isolated from the miracle,
until they found themselves invited.

Fear entangled thoughts when

a light brighter than flames ignited.

An angel declared good news
wrapped in a golden hue of joy.
It satisfied their longing hearts—
a precious infant boy.

Late into the evening,
they worshipped

with their lambs,

encountering Emmanuel,

their intimate hope.
