A Poem by Lauren Madsen

If the yellow daffodil

so soon after budding, blooming

can withstand the weight

of early spring snow

wind-blown til bending

nearly breaking—

If the yellow daffodil

so close to collapse

can rise

stand revived

and thrive

still trumpeting

new beginnings

still offering beauty

by being—

then surely

I can too.
