A Certainty

A Poem by Lauren Madsen

When I wilt with thirst,

parched and deficient,

His water revives:

strengthening limbs,

lengthening roots,

imbuing new life,

reminding me

of my dependence—

His generous

pouring-into me.

I must never

turn away,

I must never

forget

or refuse

to drink.

Lauren Madsen is a kindergarten teacher turned stay-at-home mom who rediscovered her love for reading and writing poetry during the unique experience of the 2020 pandemic. She serves as the Membership Chair for the Utah State Poetry Society, and lives near Salt Lake City with her husband and four children. Through both the written and spoken word, Lauren hopes to encourage and inspire others along the path of faith.
