A Poem by Danielle Page

Go sit upon the burning hill

Amid the sun’s piercing glow

Watch the husks darken in detail

Just ripened before the snow.

Gather your weary workers

And marvel at the fleeting sight

Behold the lilting autumn leaves

Tumbling before the fall of night.

For on the eve of golden plenty

The brilliant dusk must fade

To usher in a purpled dawn

And welcome winter’s shade.
