Light in Winter

A Poem by Jake Bennett

A dying leaf departs

the others,

pressing, with

force, against the glass,

to feel the sun’s

warmth. Does it

not know?

Has it lost

all rationality, taken

by illusion?

The sun

hides behind

winter’s absence

of light.

A wonder it is,

to witness

this dying leaf,

kept alive, by the

light of its imagination.
