Unexpected Playground

A Sonnet by Noah Bartley

Upon reading about Aslan’s resurrection

Stone hewn for death becomes Life’s playground,

Where the Daughters of Eve dance on Death’s grave.

Lungs once filled with incessant groaning sound

Forth laughter no White Witch can take away.

King of Narnia but a cub at heart,

Aslan is a beast no mere man can tame.

Knowing Deep Magic form before the start

Won’t hinder him from playing a child’s game.

“Catch me if you can!” says Aslan smiling,

Leaping over the Table torn in two;

Round and round the children chased him, filing

In and piling on – the laughing beast subdued.

Since Death has died and Life rose in its place,

Let us now, Sons and Daughters, join the chase.
