Submission Guidelines

  • Include the theme of light in your poem through light itself or other symbols that represent light ( ex: a flock of birds symbolizing hope)

  • Light doesn’t need to be described explicitly as light for it to represent light.

  • Be as specific as possible when writing about light as to give maximum depth in each work.

  • For example: If light represents life and all that is good then light can show up in a flock of birds or a bundle of flowers. In other words, the bird in your poem can represent that glimmer of light your poem needs to be alive and active.

So write away and dream up how light can show up in your poems.

How will it look? How will it move? How will it sound?

  • Remember, each poem is a “little vessel of light,” so write carefully, deeply, and kindly. Know that it will glow if you allow a full range of emotions to flow. Who knows, when you are writing, you might have a lightbulb moment go off. And finally, when you finish , send it off to its destination like lightning!
